Nations League and EURO qualifying are different competitions

The 2026/27 UEFA Nations League is a stand-alone national-team competition with leagues, groups, promotion, relegation and a final tournament. EURO 2028 qualifying is the route to UEFA’s next European Championship. The two subjects are related within the international calendar, but they should not be described as one 2026 qualifying tournament.

UEFA approved a 24-team EURO 2028 finals and a qualification system for the tournament hosted across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Use UEFA’s EURO 2028 page for the eventual qualifying draw and match details as they are published.

2026/27 Nations League groups to watch

League A includes four groups of four. The draw placed France, Italy, Belgium and Türkiye in Group A1; Germany, the Netherlands, Serbia and Greece in A2; Spain, Croatia, England and Czechia in A3; and Portugal, Denmark, Norway and Wales in A4.

Lower leagues use their own groups and promotion paths. Check UEFA’s official group page rather than a static copied list if a withdrawal, disciplinary decision or administrative change occurs.

Verified Nations League calendar

The six league-phase matchdays are scheduled across 24–26 September, 27–29 September, 30 September–3 October, 4–6 October, 12–14 November and 15–17 November 2026. League A quarter-finals and selected promotion/relegation play-offs are scheduled for 25–30 March 2027.

The final tournament is scheduled for 9–13 June 2027. League C/D play-offs are listed separately for March 2028, which is why a single generic “play-off date” can be misleading.

How to follow international windows

National-team schedules are compressed. Confirm the local kick-off time, venue and broadcaster for each match rather than assuming every fixture in a window starts together. UEFA’s match page is the source for results and table changes.

  • Save the six league-phase windows.
  • Check the viewer’s local time zone.
  • Use licensed territory-specific coverage.
  • Review group standings after every round.
